It’s been an interesting week so far, we’ve had a number of cancellations but the packages have been bought up as soon as they’re cancelled (especially the accommodation inclusive ones like Platinum and Gold). We managed to resell six or seven Platinum packages this week alone. Here’s what we currently have in stock (at 07:10 on 23 Apr):
- 7 x Gold Packages (these include accommodation for Fri & Sat night, breakfasts and dinners)
- 1 x Gala Ball ticket
Due to the high volume of resales we’ve reopened the main registration and payment processes on the website - this makes it easier for us as there’s less manual work in updating the details. No matter what happens, and for practical reasons, we will shut down registration and payments on Friday 25 April at 19:00 BST. So any cancellations, package or name changes or new registrations must be in by this time.

We’ve asked a few times - “Where are all the Silver Package people staying?”. Until recently we had no idea - but now as everyone rushes to print their E-Tickets - they are are obliged to complete this information on their EUCO profile.
Here’s a summary of the results:
- Globetrotter Inn is the most popular option - a number of delegates have booked directly with the hostel into rooms/beds not being used by EUCO 2008 for the Platinum package
- Novotel London West is probably second - this is the Gala Ball venue and is well located for public transport
- Piccadilly Backpackers is another popular choice
- The rest are evenly spread between various hotels, guest houses, hostels, B’nB’s and some are staying at with friends or even at home (UK/London delegates!)
If you haven’t yet arranged your accommodation, look at the packages still available through cancellation on this blog - or look at the Hotels page on the EUCO website.

The EUCO Host Organising Committee (or “Crew” as our shirts say on the back) met for the final time, before EUCO starts, today in Maidenhead.
We worked through every aspect of EUCO 2008 and confirmed that all arrangements are running to plan. Much of the preparatory work is complete. We also ran through the plans for the arrival of the crew onsite at the EUCO 2008 HQ - the Globetrotter Inn. Our team will be in place at Globetrotter Inn from 11am on Monday 28th April to establish our office and store the equipment and supplies needed to operate EUCO. We will be preparing delegate check-in packs on Monday (enabling a swift and easy checkin for delegates that have their E-Ticket printed out) and Tuesday will see the production line to assemble the delegate “goody” bags. If you are arriving in London before 30th April - contact us to find out how you can join in and help with the delegate bags.
The meeting finished earlier than expected - as we moved through all the action point items and we are on, or ahead, of schedule in all areas.

EUCO 2008 is centred around the Hammersmith area of West London, here’s some interesting facts about Hammersmith:
- The 1908 Olympics were hosted in White City, just north of the Globetrotter Inn
- Hammersmith & Fulham is home to no less than three football clubs: Chelsea, Fulham and Queen’s Park Rangers
- Linford Christie, Olympic gold medal winner at 100 metres, trained, lived and has a stadium named after him in Hammersmith

EUCO 2008 is not the only event happening in London in Apri/May 2008… there’s plenty of other events - we’ve listed a number of them on our “What’s on in London during EUCO 2008 page“.
When in London you’ll almost be unable to escape the publicity around the Elections taking place on Thu 1st May, Londoners will be voting for a new Mayor and Members of the Greater London Authority. There’s more info about this on LondonElects. The election won’t get in our way, the nearest Polling Station is
a few blocks away.

Well, with a mere 10 days, 15 hours and 30 minutes to go until the start of EUCO 2008, the tension is mounting… for what we hope will not only be the best EUCO yet, but one of the biggest and best Rotaract events during all the time that any of us have been in Rotaract!
Having been in Rotaract for 8 years now, and being a particular fan of EUCOs - having been on every one of them since 2003 - I am really looking forward to EUCO 2008 as being my best and most rewarding Rotaract experiences ever. EUCO has to be my favourite of all Rotaract events, and I was determined not to miss out on the opportunity to get involved in the organising.
For the last 18 months - since London won the bid to host EUCO - I have devoted a great deal of time and commitment to researching, writing and arranging sightseeing tours for EUCO 2008. Having experienced 5 EUCOs myself, I have been determined to make sure that we can offer delegates the best choice of sightseeing tours ever! London as a city has an unbelievable range of sightseeing opportunities to offer - with culture, history and heritage both old and modern - and with 8 different tours to choose from, there’s certainly something for everyone!
For anyone doing the James Bond Tour, I will be escorting you down to it on the Thursday and Saturday. If you haven’t yet signed up to our James Bond Tour, we still have places - it’s a great tour, which shows you many of the most popular tourist attractions in London, so do check it out on our website!
Another tour which will show you some of the most famous sights of London is of course our ‘Royal London’ Tour - which is another of my creations, with the valued help of one of my colleagues.
If you’re already seen many of the most popular tourist attractions of London or are looking for something a bit different, we have plenty of suggestions to offer you through our other tours - on which you’re bound to find out sometihng you did not know about London - about Serial Killers, Rock Stars, Sporting venues, The Da Vinci Code and Theatrical shows, to name but a few examples.
During the last 12 months, I have spent numerous days out in London researching and writing material for ‘London Rocks’, ‘Da Vinci Code London’ and ‘Arts London’ (as well as the Royal London and our James Bond Tour). With the valued assistance of my colleagues in preparing these tours, I hope that the sightseeing of London will be one of your many highlights at EUCO 2008!
Looking forwrard to seeing both old and new faces at EUCO 2008!!
